Activities

The activities carried out by the children are a basic pillar at the Anidan home. Thanks to them, they are able to get away from their problems and develop unique creative abilities that help them discover new skills.

ART WORKSHOP

Great native and international artists collaborate, always surprised by the level and results of the children’s final works. They have won numerous Mask awards (even as the best art school among the participating African countries), and have been exhibited in places of importance of the Turner Museum and the Saatchi Gallery in London. The workshop is funded by the African Trust, thanks to the important work of the program director, Corrie Wingate. You can follow all our latest news on instagram.com/kidscreatekenya

SPORTS

Since 2014, the Socio-Sporting School of the Fundación del Real Madrid at Anidan offers help at a sporting and emotional level to the children to achieve their goals and help us in their formation of values, both in football and basketball. In addition, the RMF coaches involved are in direct contact with the Lamu coaches in order to follow their continued training and progress day by day.

MUSIC WORKSHOPS

These are primarily made up of the girls of Anidan, who take advantage of this space in Lamu to truly shine. Their joy and excitement are clearly evident when they rehearse and perform live in the different events that take place during the year. The knowledge that the elders obtained thanks to the teachings of the Tenerife batukada Bloko del Valle, pass from generation to generation and have become a hallmark of Anidan.

OTHER WORKSHOPS

We must also highlight other workshops that are being done in parallel: gardening, computer, sewing, theater and dance, plus the support classes and tutorials that are the cornerstone of their success. Finally, it is important to remember the traditional activities that we promote such as swimming, fishing, sailing, traditional dances, storytelling, or the care and use of the donkey, a very prominent animal in Lamu.
